Wright Coating Technologies has been coating parts in Kalamazoo, Michigan since 1979. We serve the electric vehicle (EV), alternative energy, appliance, automotive, consumer goods, metal fabrication, fitness equipment, and office furniture industries with coating, assembly, and secondary operations.
Plenty of shops can put powder on a bracket. What makes Wright rare is the work most applicators turn away: complex parts, coating that has to stop exactly where the print says it stops, films that have to perform electrically or chemically, and the testing to prove it before and during production.
Where we are different
Powder coating depth. Six coating lines under one roof: an fluidized bed dip, three electrostatic spray lines sized to the job, and two spray lines for our specialized processes. We are the first approved Rilsan Nylon 11® applicator in North America, and our core strengths include commercial powder coating, CoPolymer PE, controlled-thickness nylon application, our proprietary process for powder coating plastics, and a wide range of other coatings.
Challenging masking. When a part needs full coverage in one area and bare, conductive metal in another, the masking is the job. We design and build masking solutions for those parts instead of telling you to simplify the print.
Testing, pre-production and production. We validate the coating before you launch and keep checking it while you build: film build, adhesion, and the performance tests your specification calls for, on first articles and on production parts.
In development: rework instead of scrap. We are developing post-cure coating removal and laser-based targeted defect rework, so a finished part with a local defect can be repaired rather than thrown away.
The plant
We began as a small shop dip-coating parts in vinyl in 1979. The work grew faster than the building, so we moved to our current site in Kalamazoo, Michigan, where we now run a 100,000 sq. ft. (9,290 m²) facility with about 100 people and six coating lines. Our quality system has been ISO 9001:2015 certified for years.

Wright is a specialty powder coating applicator based in Kalamazoo, Michigan, but our customers are not.
